Job summary

Tetra Tech, Inc. in Orlando, FL is seeking a Civil/Stormwater Engineering Intern to support our engineering team on stormwater and civil infrastructure projects.

You will assist with drainage design, hydrologic analysis, and field activities while learning from experienced engineers and project managers. This internship provides hands-on experience applying classroom knowledge to real-world drainage systems and flood mitigation solutions.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Interest in stormwater management and civil infrastructure.
• Familiar with basic engineering principles.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist with engineering design and hydrologic/hydraulic calculations for civil and stormwater projects.
• Support planning and design of stormwater collection, drainage improvements, and detention facilities.
• Perform stormwater runoff calculations and basic hydrologic/hydraulic modeling.
• Contribute to project documentation, drawings, reports, and specifications.
• Assist in evaluating existing drainage systems and potential flood mitigation solutions.
• Conduct research on engineering standards and permitting requirements.
• Create charts, maps, and figures for deliverables.
• Participate in field investigations and site visits with engineers.
• Assist with technical memoranda and permit applications.
• Support quality control reviews of drawings and documents.
• Collaborate with engineers and project managers through project phases.
