Job description

Office Location: Hillsborough, NJ
Position Type: Full-Time

Seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with 5-10+ years of advanced civil engineering experience to serve as a key technical and project leadership resource. This role requires full responsibility for the planning, design, coordination, review, and execution of civil/site engineering projects (from conception through final approval), including direct oversight of staff, consultants, and deliverables. The position includes serving as the engineer of record, coordinating with clients, and being accountable for schedule, scope, quality, and budget.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a NJ Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

  • Minimum 5 years as a NJ PE with relevant experience in land development/site design.

  • Demonstrated experience serving as Engineer of Record and managing projects independently.

  • Strong working knowledge of civil/site engineering practices, permitting processes, and professional standards.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

  • Technical design knowledgeable in site design, stormwater management/BMP design, grading, utilities, site plans and subdivisions, and regulatory agency permitting.

  • Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D and stormwater design software.

  • Strong work ethics and time management skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • High attention to detail and quality of work.

  • Work closely with a team of engineers, designers, and ACAD technicians.


Reponsibilities:


  • Operate with a high degree of independence, professional judgment, and ownership while contributing to office operations, mentoring staff, and maintaining the firm’s technical and professional standards

  • Oversee and design a wide variety of projects, both small and large, in the multi-use, residential, commercial, institutional, etc. categories

  • Oversee local municipal approvals

  • Manage and develop site design, stormwater management/BMP design, grading, erosion and sedimentation control, site investigation, and research of state and local regulations and design standards

  • Regular coordination/communication with contractors, clients, sub-consultants, and other team members

  • Maintain strong client relationships through professional communication, responsiveness, and technical credibility.

  • Assist with business development, including proposal preparation, interviews, and client follow‑up.

  • Represent the firm professionally at meetings, hearings, and public presentations when required.

  • Supervise, mentor, and review the work of junior engineers, designers, and technicians.
