Job description

Najarian Associates is looking to welcome a full-time Project Manager / Professional Engineer (PE) to join our Public Sector/Capital Projects group! An ideal candidate has strong communication skills, a strong work ethic, a desire to learn, willingness to work cohesively as part of a team, and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Our professionals are all comfortable working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

What we are looking for:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • 8+ years of experience (PREFERRED) in County/Municipal Capital Projects engineering, including designing capital improvement projects, roadway design, and grant work
  • Experience managing and supervising the work efforts of assigned staff regarding scope, schedule, quality and budgeting
  • Ability to track and oversee multiple projects
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (PREFERRED)
  • Proficient in AutoCad and Civil 3D
  • Ability to perform Site Investigation & Due Diligence including the review of ordinances, utility service research, outside agency regulations and site visits to establish comprehensive development guidelines
  • Preparation of construction plans and specifications, public bid documents, construction cost estimates, and associated construction documents
  • Ability to evaluate public work issues in counties and municipalities
  • Knowledge of stormwater management design and regulations including county, SCD, and governing municipalities in NJ
  • Grading design to ensure value engineering is achieved through earthwork analysis, and site safety is accomplished through the use of appropriate design slopes
  • Design of utility systems including stormwater conveyance, sanitary sewer service, park & recreation, etc. Also involves determination and resolution of vertical and horizontal utility conflicts that may exist
  • Soil Erosion & Sediment Control Design including stability calculations, best management practices, swale design, spillway design, and determination of construction sequence
  • Preparation of construction cost estimates based upon site plan drawings as required for bonding and client purposes
The Role:
  • Lead municipal engineering projects, including rad rehabilitation, storm water management, and utility design
  • Coordinate and manage capital improvement projects for public sector clients
  • Coordinate activities related to technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and construction issues
  • Assist in preparing effective work plan proposals, establish project budgets and construction cost estimates
  • Monitor daily progress of projects through full project life-cycle to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget
  • Review and approve project shop drawings
  • Ensure preparation of and review all detailed engineering sketches, drawings, specifications, plans, reports, and technical documentation to support project deliverables. reviews, and client communication
