Job summary

Pennoni seeks a Senior Engineer to contribute to multi-discipline Site/Civil design projects at the Camden, NJ office. You will lead a range of public and private site development initiatives, coordinate with multiple disciplines, and manage client relations from proposal through construction.

Required: 10+ years in civil/site development, a NJ PE license, and strong design and permitting experience. This role emphasizes team mentorship and project leadership in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• 10+ years of professional experience in land development and permitting.
• Professional Engineer license in New Jersey (NJ) is required; other states are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple projects and tasks for private development clients.
• Lead civil engineer of record on projects and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Develop and maintain client accounts; prepare proposals and estimate project fees.
• Oversee Land Development Plans and engineering reports from schematic through construction.
• Coordinate permits with regulatory agencies for large-scale projects.
• Mentor Junior Engineers and Drafters in stormwater, utility coordination, and erosion control.

Senior Engineer

We are hiring a Senior Engineer to contribute to multi-discipline Site/Civil design projects on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Camden, NJ. This person will have the opportunity to lead a variety of public and private site development projects across various markets.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage multiple projects and tasks for a variety of client types on the private development side of the office.
• Act as the lead civil engineer of record on projects and coordinate with other disciplines as necessary.
• Responsible for development of and maintaining client accounts.
• Prepare proposals for new and existing clients, including estimation of project fees.
• Oversee the development of Land Development Plans, including the preparation of engineering design drawings, technical specification, and engineering reports from schematic design through construction.
• Coordinate permits through regulatory agencies for large‑scale, complex projects.
• Delegate workload to Junior Engineers and Drafters, mentoring and guiding them to develop Stormwater Management strategies, Utility Coordination, and Erosion & Sediment Control design.
• Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or a similar discipline).
• 10+ years of professional experience working in engineering with a focus on land development and associated permitting.
• PE license in NJ; other states are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Management and/or project management experience; proven ability to manage multi‑discipline projects is strongly preferred.
• Advanced expertise working with design and permitting activities.
• Experience working with water resources, such as stream and waterway restoration.
• Experience with engineering tools such as CADD, GIS, analytic programs; proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS/ArcInfo.
• Experience with H&H tools such as HydroCAD, InfoSWWM, OpenFlows WaterCAD, WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS.
• Proficiency in standard Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Proven ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision while displaying a positive attitude.
• Excellent organizational skills, with proven ability to work in a self‑motivated manner while effectively multi‑tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal & written); technical writing skills are strongly preferred.

Target Salary Range

$120K - $160K (per year)
