Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join our Civil/Site team in Albany, NY. The role involves designing grading and drainage for land development, using AutoCAD Civil 3D with staff engineers, and driving projects within budgets and deadlines.

The position offers opportunities on a variety of projects, from warehousing to residential and mixed-use developments. Applicants should have a Civil Engineering degree, 3–8+ years of related experience, and PE/EIT

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field).
• 3-8+ years of related experience to land development or civil/site engineering.
• PE preferred, EIT required.
• Knowledge of local municipal, county and state land use, planning and zoning processes and regulations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, grading and other site development related designs.
• Demonstrated Civil 3D skills with the ability to design site layouts from concept to completion.
• Self-starter who can work independently and with a team.

Responsibilities

• Review municipal zoning and land development ordinances and regulations to determine land development limitations.
• Site investigation and due diligence including ordinance review, utility research, and site visits.
• Prepare concept drawings coordinating with AutoCAD draftsmen.
• Lead design of Stormwater Management and conveyance systems using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related software.
• Prepare pipe sizing calculations for stormwater conveyance and drainage analyses.
• Evaluate surface runoff coefficients, invert, slope, velocity and hydraulic grade line using Rational Method and Manning’s Equation.
• Perform grading design to support value engineering and safe earthwork.
• Design subdivision and site plans and layout.
• Design utility systems (stormwater, sanitary sewer, water, etc.) and resolve conflicts.
• Soil erosion and sediment control design with BMPs and construction sequencing.
• Prepare construction cost estimates for bonding and client needs.
• Work independently and lead a team of engineers.
