Job summary

Cal State East Bay is seeking a Civil Rights Intake and Support Specialist to be the first point of contact for discrimination reports, harassment, or retaliation. You will handle intake in line with CSU policies, ethics, and trauma‑informed practice.

You will work with Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, ADA, and CSU nondiscrimination policies, coordinating with campus partners to ensure timely, confidential responses and safety for the campus community.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of federal and state civil rights laws and CSU policies.
• Excellent writing and research skills for concise reports.
• Ability to manage a significant caseload with deadlines.
• Knowledge of interview techniques in crisis situations.
• Commitment to respect, due process, confidentiality and ethics.

Responsibilities

• Conduct outreach for complainants within 0–1 business days by phone and written follow-up.
• Assess and implement supportive measures prioritizing safety and access to education.
• Describe and request documentation from campus partners (UPD, Housing, Registrar, HR, etc.).
• Draft Notices for Investigation or No Investigation within required timelines.
• Coordinate hearing logistics and act as liaison with parties and witnesses.
• Train intake staff during peak periods and provide lead oversight.
