Job summary

Torocco & Associates in Southwest Florida is seeking a Civil Project Engineer to elevate project ownership while working directly with leadership. You will design land development projects, manage site grading, drainage, utilities, and permitting, and progress toward PE and Project Manager paths.

This design-focused role emphasizes hands-on involvement from planning through construction documents, with opportunities to coordinate with clients, agencies, and junior staff in a boutique firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 2-5 years of civil engineering experience focused on land development design.
• Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Experience with site grading, drainage/stormwater design, utility design, and land development permitting.
• Ability to independently manage project tasks and deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and support land development projects involving site grading, stormwater and drainage systems, utilities, roadway and site layout.
• Prepare and review engineering plans and construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Perform engineering calculations and technical design work for active site development projects.
• Prepare permit applications and supporting documentation and coordinate with municipalities, utility agencies, and regulatory authorities.
• Manage assigned project tasks, schedules, deadlines, and deliverables with increasing independence.
• Coordinate with clients, project stakeholders, Engineers-in-Training, and CAD designers.
• Provide technical guidance to junior staff as your responsibilities grow.
• Participate in project delivery, client relationships, and business growth opportunities.

What you bring

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 2-5 years of civil engineering experience focused on land development design.
• Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Experience with site grading, drainage/stormwater design, utility design, and land development permitting.
• Ability to independently manage project tasks and deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred

• Ability to obtain PE licensure within 6 months, or current PE licensure.
• Florida land development experience.
• Experience coordinating directly with local jurisdictions and agencies.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers or coordinating project teams.
