Job summary

The Project Engineer at Ames Construction supports the planning, coordination, and execution of heavy highway and civil construction projects to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with contract requirements.

This role works closely with project management, field supervision, subcontractors, and inspectors to deliver high-quality infrastructure projects, including roadways, bridges, and other civil structures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, equipment, and materials.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and site safety practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work extended hours as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, coordination, and execution of construction activities to support schedules and budgets.
• Design, review, and implement temporary works and construction means with safety emphasis.
• Inspect installed work, equipment, and materials; coordinate corrective actions as needed.
• Provide on-site direction and technical support to foremen, crews, and subcontractors.
• Monitor project progress and prepare accurate daily reports, quantities, and documentation.
• Perform quality control inspections to ensure compliance with plans and specs.
• Verify materials and workmanship meet project requirements and submittals.
• Enforce safety policies, OSHA regulations, and PPE usage.
• Support project cost tracking, schedule updates, and stakeholder coordination.
