Job summary

Harnden Construction Services, LLC is seeking an Estimator for landfill-related projects in the Mid-Atlantic region. The role is based in Harrisburg, PA, with in-person work and opportunity to handle a range of public and private bids exceeding $1M to $20M.

You will join our estimating team and collaborate with preconstruction to pursue opportunities across MD, VA, and PA. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, attention to detail, and will undergo background checks and drug

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of estimating experience in civil/site construction; landfill projects a plus.
• A two- or four-year degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred.
• Understanding of civil drawings and specifications including earthwork, utilities, and E&S controls.
• Ability to use Bluebeam and Agtek Gradeworks as takeoff tools.
• Familiarity with HCSS HeavyBid and SmartBid.
• Knowledge of surveying and GPS equipment is a plus.
• Must be a U.S. citizen for restricted site access.

Responsibilities

• Prepare a complete and comprehensive landfill-related estimate as assigned.
• Review drawings and project specs for scope, measurements, and geotechnical inputs.
• Travel to pre-bid meetings and conduct project site reviews.
• Perform quantity takeoffs to estimate crew setup and material costs.
• Identify subcontractors and material suppliers to obtain quotes.
• Develop production rates and crew/equipment setups for bulk earthwork and utilities.
• Build anticipated schedules with concurrent activities.
• Prepare required bid documentation for submissions.
• Maintain relationships with key contractors and vendors throughout projects.
• Collaborate with Preconstruction Team to document best practices and innovations.
• Participate in mentoring sessions to advance estimating skills.
