Job summary

Harnden Construction Services, LLC, based in Harrisburg, PA, is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our preconstruction team. You will prepare estimates for diverse projects ranging from $1M to $20M in the public and private sectors across the Mid-Atlantic, with emphasis on landfill-related work.

The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with the estimating team.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of estimating experience in civil/site construction, landfill projects a plus
• Two- or four-year degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred
• Ability to read drawings and project specs, including earthwork and utilities
• Proficiency with Bluebeam and Gradeworks for takeoffs
• Experience with bid submissions and subcontractor solicitation is a plus

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete estimates for landfill-related projects
• Review drawings and project specs including geotechnical reports
• Travel to pre-bid meetings and conduct site reviews
• Perform quantity takeoffs to estimate crew setup and material costs
• Identify subcontractors and material suppliers to receive quotes
• Develop production rates and crew/equipment setups
• Build anticipated schedules with concurrent activities
• Maintain relationships with contractors and vendors
• Collaborate with Preconstruction Team to document best practices
• Mentor colleagues to advance estimating skills
