Job summary

Volkert Inc. is seeking a Civil Gas Engineer for our Midwest Region based in Lexington, KY. The role focuses on designing natural gas transmission and distribution systems and leading a team to deliver safe, compliant infrastructure projects.

You will prepare plans, review cost estimates, and conduct risk assessments while coordinating with city officials, contractors, and field staff. A PE is preferred, with 1–3 years in gas engineering and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • PE license preferred or ability to obtain.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in gas engineering or related field.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
  • Post offer fit for duty evaluation to ensure the individual can safely perform the essential functions of the role.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory MVR.

We are currently searching for an experienced Civil Gas Engineer to support our Midwest Region located in Lexington, KY.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

What you need to have:

  • 1 - 3 years of experience in gas engineering or related field
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
  • If applicable to the position, a post offer fit for duty evaluation to ensure the individual can safely perform the essential functions of the role
  • Valid driver's license
