Job summary

Volkert Inc. is seeking a Civil Project Engineer - Transportation to support our Southwest Region in Texas, with positions in Houston, McKinney, Rockwall, Round Rock, San Antonio, or Tyler. The role focuses on geometric design for TXDOT and local governments.

You will work on design reports, schedules, and compliance submissions, utilizing CAD and design tools while ensuring quality standards and coordination with field teams.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS or MS in Civil Engineering required.
• Minimum 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and modifies reports, specifications, plans, schedules, environmental studies, and designs for projects.
• Evaluates need for design changes and makes recommendations.
• Consults with construction personnel on design constructability and scheduling.
• Uses computer aided engineering/design software for documents.
• Adheres to QA/QC standards per manual.
• Submits documents to agencies for code compliance and permits.

We are currently searching for an experienced Civil Project Engineer - Transportation to support our Southwest Region located ineither Houston, McKinney, Rockwall, Round Rock, San Antonio, or Tyler, TX.

You will be responsible for geometric design projects including but not limited to TXDOT and local government.

What you'll be doing:

• Prepares and modifies reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental studies, and designs for projects
• Evaluates need for design changes and makes appropriate recommendations
• Consults with construction personnel concerning design constructability as related to field conditions, sequencing and scheduling of construction activities
• Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents
• Adheres to company standards for quality assurance and quality control as defined in the quality manual
• Submits documents to federal, state, and local agencies for code compliance review and obtains permits required

What you need to have:

• B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program
• 4+ years relevant experience
• Licensed PE
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
• Valid driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
