Job summary

Parkhill, a leading architectural and engineering firm, offers an on-site part-time internship for civil engineering students. You will support engineers and project teams with routine tasks, data collection, and preparation of design sketches and permit applications.

Under supervision, you will perform basic calculations, assist with quantity takeoffs, prepare marketing proposals, and maintain project libraries, gaining practical experience in a collaborative community-focused firm.

Qualifications

• Student status in Civil Engineering or related discipline at an accredited college or university.
• Familiarity with basic engineering concepts and calculations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction phase services as directed by project engineer.
• Assist with checking engineering calculations.
• Assist with basic design tasks including quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
• Help prepare marketing proposals and collect field data.

Overview

Under close supervision, performs routine tasks requiring knowledge offundamental engineering, mathematical and construction concepts.Provides support to engineers, CADD supervisor, or project team in thepreparation of graphic materials, design sketches, study materials andpermit applications. This is a part-time, non-exempt position paid on an hourly basis.

Responsibilities

• Assists with construction phase services as directed by project engineer.
• Assists with checking engineering calculations.
• Assists with fundamental project tasks such as quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and basic design calculations.
• Assists in preparing marketing proposals.
• Assists in collecting field data and test samples.
• Assists in maintaining the technical library.
• Performs routine filing and delivery of documents.
• Proficient in the use of computers, computer aided design and other relevant software and hardware tools.
• Other duties may be assigned.
