Job summary

Commonwealth of VA Careers is seeking a part-time engineering support student to assist in multiple disciplines, including Location and Design, Materials, Residency Operations, Construction, Structure and Bridge, Maintenance, Environmental, Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering Operations.

You will provide technical assistance to assigned engineering program areas, prepare daily documentation, and participate in the summer scholar program.

Qualifications

• Be a rising junior or senior undergraduate in ABET civil engineering or related program.
• Complete a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester while stipend recipient.
• Have a basic knowledge of engineering principles.
• Maintain residency in Virginia or attend a VA accredited program.
• Must be at least 18 years of age by start of employment.
• GPA minimum 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with VDOT staff and external contacts, resolving issues where possible.
• Complete assignments as directed and maintain documentation.
• Apply engineering technology principles to assigned programs areas.
• Participate in the summer scholar program.
• Prepare and maintain daily project activity documentation.
