Job summary

Commonwealth of VA Careers is seeking a student intern for a summer internship with VDOT-related activities in Culpeper, VA. The role involves performing special duties, engaging in planned work experiences that integrate academic knowledge with practical application in the workplace.

You will communicate with VDOT staff and consultants, apply engineering technology principles, perform equipment maintenance, and maintain project documentation and records to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled full-time in an Associate’s degree program or higher.
• Must be at least 18 years old by the start of employment.
• Must maintain a full-time graduate status taking 9 or more credit hours per semester at a college/university before and following internship.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with VDOT staff and external contacts; proactively resolve issues at the lowest level.
• Apply principles and practices of engineering technology to assigned program areas.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on testing equipment; follow guidelines for storage and transport.
• Prepare and maintain daily documentation of project activities; ensure documentation is submitted and complete.
• Maintain accurate records for all project activities and meet deadlines.
