IMEG in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Civil Engineering New Graduate to join our team. You will work with experienced engineers on basic design, analysis, and project execution, supported by mentorship and training from day one.

You’ll assist with hydraulic calculations, water/sewer design, and site grading while engaging with clients to understand needs and deliver compliant solutions. This is an entry-level, full-time in-office opportunity with ESOP benefits.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering required.
  • Basic AutoCAD Civil 3D knowledge and ability to complete AutoCAD training quickly.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Clear communication, both written and oral.

This posting is for Summer 2027 New Graduate opportunities. IMEG is hiring a Civil Engineering New Graduate in Charlotte, NC to work closely with a team of experienced engineers and consultants to provide engineering solutions and advice to clients and help ensure positive outcomes. This entry-level role offers hands‑on design, analysis, and project execution experience, with mentorship, training, and opportunities to grow your expertise from day one. In this role, you’ll assist with engineering analysis, design, field inspections, report writing, permit applications, and site drainage and grading designs while learning the civil engineering trade. You’ll work within project budgets, collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations, and support markets in survey, land development, and civil engineering, delivering resilient, environmentally responsible infrastructure.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform basic calculations based on assignment, including hydraulic calculations, traffic projections, piling or rebar calculations, and calculations to balance site earthwork.
  • Assist in designing water and sewer systems for smaller private and larger municipal systems.
  • Assist with grading and stormwater designs for commercial, industrial, and residential site plans.
  • Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, communicate technical information effectively, and build and maintain client relationships through professional communication.
  • Work as part of a project team to support the execution of consulting projects, and assist in project planning and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives.
  • Assist with documenting design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress.
  • Analyze low to medium complexity engineering tasks, propose innovative solutions, and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions.
  • Participate in IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in civil engineering, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG.
  • Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance in all aspects of engineering work, interpret state and local design criteria, and apply it to the specific project needs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
What You’ll Bring
  • Required Education Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required
  • Required Skills/Abilities Basic skills or knowledge with AutoCAD Civil 3D software and the ability to complete AutoCAD training sessions as quickly as possible
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Preferred Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) License preferred
