Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Wallingford, CT is seeking an Engineering Intern to support the Transmission & Distribution market and help with standard engineering tasks, updating designs, and assisting lead engineers on project duties.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a Civil Engineering degree with ABET preference, maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA, and possess strong communication and MS Office skills. This full-time internship emphasizes growth within the engineering field and hands-on project experience.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from a recognized, accredited program required.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering tasks using standard techniques and procedures.
• Assist lead engineers with project duties and design updates.
• Contribute to data collection and analysis for continuous improvement.
• Present solutions to project concerns and inquiries.
• Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
