Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is offering a Civil Engineering Intern position in Nashville, TN, inviting students to gain hands-on experience in civil aviation infrastructure projects.

You will assist engineers with design, drafting in AutoCAD Civil 3D, perform basic calculations, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while you complete 60 credit hours toward an ABET-accredited civil engineering degree.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing Associate's or Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
  • 60 credit hours toward civil engineering degree (ABET-accredited) by Summer 2027.
  • Strong CAD/drafting and software skills.
  • Basic engineering calculations and report-writing.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers with design and development of civil aviation infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare and revise engineering drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D or other design software.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations for grading, drainage, utilities, runways, taxiways, or site development projects.
  • Assist with quantity takeoffs, material estimates, cost calculations, reviewing contractor submittals, and RFIs.
  • Review survey data, maps, and project specifications.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports, permit applications, and construction documents.
  • Research applicable codes, regulations, and design standards.
  • Participate in project meetings and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.

Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join our Nashville, TN office.

Your Role
  • Assist engineers with the design and development of civil aviation infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare and revise engineering drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D or other design software.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations for grading, drainage, utilities, runways, taxiways, or site development projects.

  • Review survey data, maps, and project specifications.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports, permit applications, and construction documents.
  • Research applicable codes, regulations, and design standards.
  • Participate in project meetings and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
About You
  • EXPERIENCE: No experience is generally required if accepted into an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in a related technical field.
  • EDUCATION: Must have completed 60 hours towards a civil engineering degree from an ABET accredited program by the start of the internship (Summer 2027).
  • SPECIAL SKILLS: AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bluebeam REVU, Microsoft Office, Quantity Takeoff, Technical writing

Additional Information

Expected compensation range is between $ 25 - $ 31 hourly depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
