Job summary

The City of Chanhassen is seeking an Engineering Intern to assist with street rehabilitation and reconstruction projects, performing field duties, measurements, photos, basic surveying, and coordination with city staff, contractors, and residents.

You will support Water Resources and Environmental Departments, assist with inspections for crack sealing and sealcoat projects, and help develop engineering reports and SOPs under the guidance of Engineering staff.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a four-year college or technical program in an engineering field with at least one year of coursework completed.
• Familiarity with municipal construction documents and activities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with administration of street rehabilitation and reconstruction projects, including field duties, measurements, photos, and project coordination.
• Install and manage temporary traffic monitoring devices and download data.
• Assist with inspections for crack sealing and sealcoat projects and coordinate with staff, contractors and residents.
• Support Water Resources and Environmental Departments with asset monitoring and erosion control inspections.
• Contribute to engineering reports and SOP development under engineering staff guidance.
• Perform permit inspections and maintain project files and easements.
• Other duties as assigned by the Assistant City Engineer.
