Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Engineering Intern to support standard engineering tasks, assist lead engineers, and contribute to project duties across market segments. This role emphasizes data collection, analysis, and documentation, with a focus on continuous improvement and collaboration with university and community activities.

Qualified candidates are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, preferably ABET-accredited, with strong communication and leadership

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related field from a recognized, accredited program.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Active involvement in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

Responsibilities

• Assist with filing, scanning, data entry, documentation and Power Point presentation.
• Assist with responses to general questions.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts by collecting and analyzing data.
• Present solutions to concerns.
• Research solutions to project concerns; analyze and recommend solutions to problems.
• Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
