Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Houston, TX seeks an Engineering Intern to support standard engineering tasks and the design of systems across market segments. Responsibilities include data entry, documentation, and PowerPoint presentations while learning from lead engineers.

Qualified candidates pursue a bachelor’s in Civil or Structural Engineering, with ABET preferred. Strong communication, problem solving, and leadership skills are required; 3.0 GPA is strongly preferred and 5% travel is possible.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field from an accredited program.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

Responsibilities

• Assist with filing, scanning, data entry, documentation and Power Point presentation.
• Assist with responses to general questions.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts by collecting and analyzing data.
• Present solutions to concerns.
• Research solutions to project concerns; analyze and recommend solutions to problems.
• Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
