Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Configuration Management Intern for Fall 2026 to support the Infrastructure Transformation Program. The role involves researching historical site infrastructure, locating former building sites and utilities, and interpreting civil drawings.

Interns will digitize materials into EDMS and verify findings with the team. The internship operates on a 9x80 on-site schedule at the Idaho Falls Campus and may qualify for course credit.

Qualifications

• Undergrad student majoring in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• GPA minimum 3.0.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. (including CPT/OPT).

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on original construction plans from the US Navy (1943-1949) and the National Reactor Testing Station (1949-2005).
• Locate and identify building locations and underground utilities no longer visible or decommissioned.
• Interpret civil engineering drawings for original utility/building installations.
• Digitally preserve historical drawings in EDMS for easy access by INL staff.
• Collaborate with team to validate findings and ensure documentation accuracy.
