Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a motivated Systems Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The role offers hands-on experience in requirements engineering, architecture design, and verification and validation activities within energy, security, and advanced research programs.

You will work with experienced engineers on System of Systems projects, contribute to SE artifacts, and participate in reviews.

Qualifications

• Enrolled full time in an undergraduate program in Engineering, CS, Applied Science, or similar.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. (CPT/OPT).
• Current resume or CV and unofficial transcripts.
• Course work or experience in systems thinking or SE is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support development of System of Systems architectures and identify interactions.
• Assist in requirements elicitation, decomposition, and management with multidisciplinary teams.
• Participate in architecture modeling and analysis using SE tools.
• Assist in V&V planning and execution to ensure traceability.
• Contribute to SE artifacts: interface definitions, flow diagrams, and RTMs.
• Collaborate with engineers, researchers, and project managers across projects.
• Participate in design reviews and technical evaluations.
