Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory (INL) internship supports the Infrastructure Transformation Program by researching and preserving historical site infrastructure. You will locate original building sites and utilities and interpret civil engineering drawings, then digitize materials into EDMS for long-term access.

The team works a 9x80 schedule onsite at the Idaho Falls Campus and you may travel between INL facilities. Start date and duration vary; course credit may be available.

Qualifications

• Undergrad student majoring in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum GPA 3.0.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. (CPT/OPT).
• Current resume or CV.
• Unofficial transcripts (include current and completed degree programs).
• Current class schedule and number of credits.

Responsibilities

• Research original construction plans (1943–1949 US Navy, 1949–2005 NRTS).
• Locate original building locations and underground utilities no longer visible.
• Interpret civil engineering drawings for original utilities and buildings.
• Digitally preserve historical drawings by scanning into EDMS for easy access.
• Collaborate with team to validate findings and ensure accuracy.
