Job summary

Kimley-Horn's Charlotte, NC office is seeking an engineering graduate with 1+ years of experience to join the Surface Water team. This is not a remote position and will involve site civil design, permitting, and hydrology modeling as part of land development projects.

You will contribute to research, coordination, and project management while gaining mentorship and exposure to client interactions, plan production, and project financials.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience with a civil engineering design firm.
  • Bachelor's or Master's from ABET-accredited university in Civil Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.

Responsibilities

  • Complete site civil design, permitting, and software applications including hydrology modeling, storm drainage, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D.
  • Work on land development site designs across projects.
  • Assist with research, coordination, project management, staff management, cost estimating, permitting for land disturbance, and bid package preparation.
  • Support plan production, project financials, and client interactions as a team member.
