Civicworks seeks a Civil Engineer Trainee to assist the Illinois Department of Transportation in preparing plans and implementing highway construction projects across District 8. The program offers structured training with advancement to Civil Engineer I within 7-9 months, exposing trainees to diverse specialties and professionals.

Located in Collinsville, IL, work is Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm, with a hybrid schedule of 1–5 days in office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in engineering from ABET-accredited college or EIT/PE/SE license.
• Minimum 2.0 GPA (out of 4.0).
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel district-wide.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform technical computations and estimates.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing plans for highway construction projects.
• Support implementation of projects across District 8 with exposure to engineering specializations.
