Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking a Civil Engineer Trainee in the Office of Highways and Intermodal Project Implementation/Bureau of Operations. The role supports engineering investigations, design planning and program implementation with a path to civil engineer progression.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Engineering from ABET-accredited college or currently eligible for Illinois Engineer Intern/Professional Engineer license.
If GPA is between 2.0 and 2.5, must also possess IL Engineer Intern/PE or Structural Engineer license.
Preferred: working knowledge of civil engineering practices; ability to perform technical computations and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

Assist with roadway designation requests under direct supervision.
Support roadside maintenance activities and annual monitoring plans.
Summarize winter maintenance reports using MS Office and asset management tools.
Assist with weight enforcement program activities under supervision.
Comply with safety rules and perform duties to support organizational goals.
Perform other duties as assigned.
