Job summary

Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority seeks a Civil Engineer to develop engineering plans, designs, specifications, and standards for diverse projects across facilities and systems. You will manage projects, coordinate with internal teams, and support facility standards and new technologies with hands-on oversight.

The role requires hands-on project management, design review, field oversight, and effective communication with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, mechanical or architectural engineering from an accredited institution.
• Four (4) years of engineering or related experience.
• Strong organizational, analytical, time-management and multi-tasking skills.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office applications, and database applications.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and present effectively to diverse stakeholders and customers.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Valid driver’s license without major infractions per MBTA policy.

Responsibilities

• Develop preliminary engineering designs, specifications and standards for modifications to MBTA facilities and systems.
• Oversee individual projects and programs within assigned division.
• Coordinate planning, scheduling and implementation of testing to improve reliability of facilities and components.
• Monitor the reliability of major systems and selected components.
• Conduct site inspections and prepare required reports.
• Respond to inquiries in a courteous and professional manner.
• Drive to work sites and assist at emergencies or service disruptions as needed.
• Collaborate with other departments and teams to review projects.
• Maintain sound union/management relations and adhere to collective bargaining agreements.
