Job summary

MBTA is seeking a Civil Engineer to develop plans, designs, specifications, and standards for facility projects, conduct studies and cost estimates, and oversee projects within their division. The role combines hands-on project management, design review, field oversight, and collaboration with internal departments to meet operational requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, mechanical or architectural engineering from an accredited institution.
• Four (4) years of engineering or related experience.
• Effective organizational, analytical, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office applications, and database applications.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and present effectively to a diverse group of stakeholders and customers.
• Valid driver’s license without major infractions in accordance with MBTA policy.

Responsibilities

• Develop preliminary engineering designs, specifications, and standards for modifications to facilities and systems.
• Participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of comprehensive plans for improvements.
• Coordinate planning, scheduling, and implementation of all testing to improve reliability of facilities and system components.
• Monitor the reliability of major systems and selected components.
• Conduct site inspections of systems and materials and prepare required reports.
• Collaborate with other departments and team members to produce and review projects.
