About the Role

Our client is seeking a motivated and skilled Civil Design Engineer to join their team in Upington, Northern Cape . This role involves the design and development of various civil engineering projects, including roads, earthworks, water supply, and stormwater management systems. You will work collaboratively with senior engineers and project managers to deliver high-quality, sustainable infrastructure solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical foundation in civil engineering principles, proficiency in design software, and excellent problem-solving abilities. Key Responsibilities

• Design and prepare detailed drawings and specifications for civil infrastructure projects, including roads, earthworks, drainage, and utilities.
• Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and preliminary design work.
• Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) for geometric design, drafting, and modeling.
• Perform calculations for earthworks, hydrology, hydraulics, and structural components as required.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant South African standards, codes of practice, and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with other engineers, technicians, and project managers to ensure integrated and efficient project delivery.
• Assist in the preparation of tender documents and Bills of Quantities.
• Provide technical support during the construction phase, including site inspections and RFI responses.
• Maintain project documentation and ensure adherence to quality control procedures.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in civil engineering design.
• Professional registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Technologist (Pr Tech Eng) with ECSA is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D is essential.
• Experience with water/wastewater design software is a plus.
• Solid understanding of road design, earthworks, drainage principles, and municipal services.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities of engineering projects in the Northern Cape region.
