Job summary

Walker Partners, a Texas-based civil engineering and survey firm, seeks a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT). You will work with engineering, surveying, and construction management teams to design drainage, stormwater, water distribution networks, and wastewater systems for municipal projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (ABET accredited program) required.
• EIT certification required or in progress.
• FE exam completed is required.
• 2-5 years of municipal infrastructure or water resource project experience.

Responsibilities

• Use AutoCAD Civil3D, HEC-RAS, EPANet, Flowmaster, Bluebeam, and Excel to develop and quality-check plans and specs.
• Support planning, design, and permitting across municipal and water resource projects.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to deliver infrastructure solutions.
• Build familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations and company standards.

Job description

As a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) at Walker Partners, you will work alongside our experienced engineering, surveying, and construction management teams to be exposed to many different aspects of the civil engineering industry. As a valuable addition to our company, you will assist your project team and collaborate with our engineers to design drainage and stormwater systems, water distribution and transmission systems, wastewater collection systems, lift stations, pump stations, and prepare master plans and reports for municipal and water resource projects.

This is your opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a variety of civil engineering disciplines while following projects through every step of the engineering process. From conceptual design and coordination, to assisting with the bidding process and supporting construction management- you'll be involved in delivering projects from cradle to grave!

Responsibilities

• Use technical software, including but not limited to AutoCAD Civil3D, HEC-RAS, Hydroflow, EPANet, Flowmaster, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel, to develop, analyze, and quality-check engineering plans and technical specifications
• Support civil engineering efforts -including planning, design, and permitting - across a diverse portfolio of municipal and water resource projects
• Work side-by-side with project managers, engineers, and cross-functional teams to tackle complex challenges and bring our clients' infrastructure and development goals to life
• Build working knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations while gaining familiarity with Walker Partners' quality standards and client specific procedures

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (from ABET Accredited Civil Engineering Program)
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification
• 2-5 years of experience in municipal infrastructure and/or water resource projects
• Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) - required

Skills Desired

AutoCAD Civil3D, site grading and drainage design, street design, water and wastewater design, quantity take-offs, and construction administration
