Compensation and Location

Salary Range: $6,258.00 - $8,108.00

Position Salary: 6,528.00 USD Monthly

Location: Department of Public Works Engineering, Department of Water

Civil Service or Non Civil Service: Civil Service

Job Summary

Performs moderately difficult professional engineering work in the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of civil engineering projects; prepares designs, plans, specifications, estimates and reports; and performs other related duties as required.

Examples of Duties
  • Make office and field studies of proposed projects and supervise preliminary and final surveys; establish benchmarks and take cross‑sections, profiles, and contours; make survey computations and prepare preliminary drawings.
  • Design and assist in the design of reservoirs, retaining walls, bridges, culverts, tunnels, and timber structures by computing grades and alignments, loadings, and stresses, determining the size, proportion, and dimensions of structure and supervising the preparation of construction plans and drawings.
  • Assist in the preparation of specifications and contract documents and prepare cost and quantity estimates; check shop drawings; supervise construction and inspection activities; interpret plans and specifications and changes and correct plans.
  • Keep records of work done, materials used, and prepare monthly and final payment estimates.
  • Make hydrologic and land development studies; check plans and specifications of building and structures for compliance with the building code; review test reports and soil analysis reports; and perform other related duties and requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Training and Experience: A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a baccalaureate degree in engineering; and two (2) years of professional civil engineering experience.
