Civil Engineer VI

Salary and Location

Salary Range: $9,794.00 – $12,169.00 per month.

Position Salary: $9,794.00 USD monthly.

Location: Department of Public Works Engineering Department of Water – Engineering; Civil Service.

Job Summary

Provides administrative, technical, and professional engineering direction over a variety of complex engineering programs and projects within the department.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct several engineering programs.
• Formulate operating policies and procedures and establish work priorities.
• Supervise the preparation and/or review of plans, designs, specifications, estimates and reports for engineering projects such as the construction, repair and major maintenance of bridges, reservoirs, culverts, retaining walls, tunnels, highways, pipelines, sewers, sidewalks, playgrounds, and drainage channels.
• Supervise the inspection of engineering projects.
• Determine working stresses and computational procedures.
• Make field inspections and review work of inspectors, approving changes during construction.
• Coordinate activities and programs with other governmental and private agency projects, and collaborate with other engineers and architects on design problems.
• Initiate and/or review the conduct of engineering investigation or research studies.
• Recommend organizational and operational changes.
• Assist in the development of broad work programs and policies and in preparing and justifying budgets.
• Prepare contracts, technical and administrative reports, and correspondence.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications and Licensure

• Combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a baccalaureate degree in engineering and two (2) years of professional civil engineering work experience after licensure as a registered professional engineer.
• Possession of a valid professional civil engineer license in the State of Hawaii.
• Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license (Hawaiʻi Type 3 or equivalent).

Monday – Friday (United States of America).
