Civil Engineer I

Salary Range: N/A | Position Salary: 5,596.00 USD Monthly | Location: Department of Public Works Engineering Department of Water - Engineering

Job Summary

Does routine professional engineering work in the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of civil engineering projects; assists in preparing designs, plans, specifications, estimates, and reports; and performs other related duties as required.

Responsibilities
  • Receives orientation in and learns the principles, techniques, laws, methodology and processes pertinent to civil engineering work
  • Becomes familiar with the location and use of reference and resource materials, files, and related records
  • Assists in preparing designs, plans, specifications, estimates and reports in accordance with specific instructions and established engineering practices
  • Assists in the design of reservoirs, retaining walls, bridges, culverts, tunnels, pipelines, sewers, sidewalks, highways and other concrete, steel, and timber structures by developing details, checking computations, and preparing final working drawings, reinforcing steel details and material schedules
  • Accompanies higher level civil engineers in visiting project sites and attending meetings to gain information and knowledge for the development and completion of projects assigned
  • Performs field inspections and surveying duties
  • Performs basic engineering calculations of data and prepares graphs, tables, charts, diagrams, maps, etc.
  • Tests construction materials
  • Assists higher level engineers in preparing engineering reports and studies
  • Performs other related duties as required
Qualifications
  • A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a baccalaureate degree in engineering.
