Job summary

Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. in Arizona seeks a Civil Engineering Intern to support the design, operation, and maintenance of water and wastewater systems.

You will assist with CAD drafting, GIS mapping, data entry, and basic system analysis under close supervision. The role offers exposure to SAP EAM, cost estimation, and documentation, with opportunities to learn hydraulics and engineering drafting while developing your professional skills in a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology from accredited university.
• Experience with personal computers and strong working knowledge of Windows OS and software including MS Office and AutoCAD.
• Basic understanding of engineering drafting; AutoCAD and/or ArcGIS experience is a plus.
• Must be results-oriented with initiative and able to work independently and in a team.
• Must have adequate verbal and written skills to communicate in English with others including internal and external customers.
• Valid state driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Engineering Intern License preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in civil engineering tasks related to utilities.
• Prepare cost estimates and provide services in support of the engineering department.
• Develop spreadsheets and applications for field and office use.
• Prepare various documents using word processing and spreadsheets.
• Engage with Procurement for materials analysis and SAP-related approvals.
• Update project material lists in SAP prior to Construction.
• Work under close supervision and be reviewed by higher level engineers.
• Work with GIS and SAP EAM technologies.
• File documentation and maintain current file index.
• Adhere to safety policies and report unsafe activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
