Job summary

City of Kinston is seeking qualified Civil Engineer I/II to perform design and permitting for water, sewer, stormwater, and street infrastructures. You will review plans, calculate designs, and prepare permits and contract documents under supervision of the City Engineer.

The role requires strong knowledge of city codes, state laws, and experience coordinating with consultants and regulatory agencies. A valid driver’s license is required and licensure as a Professional Engineer is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering, or closely related field.
• Ability to obtain licensure as a Professional Engineer is required.
• Experience in design, permitting, and capital project administration.

Responsibilities

• Review plans and calculations for compliance with City codes and state regulations.
• Perform design work and complex engineering calculations for water, sewer, streets and stormwater projects.
• Prepare reports, permit applications, bid documents, and contracts for capital projects.
