Job summary

City of Eugene’s Public Works Engineering Division invites applications for a Civil Engineer 1/2 to support the Traffic Engineering Team in planning, design, and transportation studies. The role involves collaboration across departments and interaction with the development community on permitting, plan review, and traffic analysis.

This non-represented, exempt position is based at 180 W 8th Ave, Eugene, with a Monday–Friday schedule and competitive benefits. Open until filled.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates on the design and preparation of plans for street improvements, bike paths, traffic signals, illumination projects, traffic calming, safety projects, striping, and signing plans.
  • Performs traffic studies and analyzes the transportation system for safety and capacity issues using data-driven approaches; may include modeling software, crash analyses, multimodal assessment, and LOS reviews.
  • Reviews public improvement plans to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and City ordinances, specifications, and codes.
  • Leads as the public works project representative to City Departments, consultants, developers, contractors, and the public.
  • Prepares and administers project budgets, contracts, and grant agreements with consultants and outside agencies.
  • Participates in diversity initiatives and ensures safe operation of vehicles.
