Job summary

The City of Eugene is seeking a Civil Engineer 2 to perform complex professional engineering work in design, investigation, construction management, and project management of public works projects. Five years of experience including supervisory responsibilities and an ABET-accredited degree are required, along with a PE license or reciprocity within six months.

Qualifications

• Five years of professional civil engineering experience including one year of supervisory experience.
• Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited college or university, with major course work in Civil Engineering, or related field(s).
• Must pass a background check.
• Valid Oregon driver’s license (or ability to obtain by date of hire); must pass driving records check.
• Possession of a State of Oregon Certificate of Registration as a professional engineer, or ability to obtain by reciprocity within 6 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Design and prepare plans, specifications, schedules and cost estimates for public works projects (streets, bike paths, traffic signals, bridges, illumination, signing).
• Direct and supervise professional and technical staff on survey, design, construction inspection and contract management of capital projects.
• Act as lead representative for public works projects to City departments, agencies, consultants, developers, contractors, and the public.
• Manage federally funded projects, often as part of the City’s ODOT certification.
• Provide technical and professional engineering support and respond to public inquiries and complaints.
• Lead team efforts with citizens and neighborhood groups to develop design concepts for infrastructure.
