We are an entrepreneurial family office focused on high-stakes, large-scale real estate development. Our platform specializes in raw land transformation, infrastructure development, and community-building at scale. We are building the infrastructure backbone for one of the largest master-planned development projects in Central Texas, spanning thousands of acres across Bastrop County. We are looking for a sharp, technically excellent civil engineer who wants to own real problems from the ground up.
The Role
The Civil Engineer will serve as the technical lead for infrastructure design and permitting across our active development portfolio. This is a hands-on role requiring someone equally comfortable in AutoCAD Civil 3D and in the field, driving permitting, coordinating with county and state agencies, and delivering the design work that moves raw land to entitled, build-ready communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to prepare structural and civil engineering details, design plans, reports, and meeting exhibits.
- Work with legal descriptions, survey data, and aerial photographs to create final plans and maps.
- Digitize as-built civil drawings, including utility and structural drawings.
- Prepare drainage, grading, and impervious cover plans for development permitting submissions.
Field Work & Surveying
- Conduct physical site surveys, prepare field sketches and notes, and perform data collection on active project sites.
- Use surveying equipment to determine property lines, boundaries, and site conditions.
- Coordinate job walks for pricing, scheduling, and inspections with vendors, contractors, and building officials.
- Lead permitting efforts across all relevant county, state, and federal bodies including Bastrop County, TxDOT, Army Corps of Engineers, TCEQ, and local utility providers.
- Coordinate with external engineering consultants to manage submissions, respond to agency comments, and keep permitting timelines on track.
- Liaise with utility providers on infrastructure feasibility studies and development agreements.
Reporting & Project Tracking
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports documenting progress and challenges across active projects.
- Track critical permitting milestones, submission windows, and agency response timelines.
- Maintain organized project files and enforce document discipline across the engineering workstream.
- Use AI tools to accelerate routine work including report drafting, research, and documentation. We use Claude across the platform and expect every team member to lean into these tools from day one.
Basic Qualifications
- Civil Engineering PE License (Texas preferred).
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in an active construction or land development environment.
- Survey experience with standard surveying equipment.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- 2+ years of experience working with AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Experience with TxDOT permitting, county road and drainage submissions, or Army Corps of Engineers Section 404 process.
- Familiarity with Texas land development, subdivision platting, and municipal utility district formation.
- Strong collaboration skills with a proven ability to work across engineering disciplines, field crews, and external consultants.
- Acute attention to detail, strong problem-solving instincts, and a sense of urgency.
Compensation
- Base Salary: flexible based on experience.
- Growth: This is a foundational hire on a platform with significant runway. You will work directly alongside leadership, gain exposure to every part of the development process, and have a clear path to take on broader technical ownership as the portfolio scales.
