Job description

Insight Global is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer focused on land development to join a confidential company in the greater Austin, TX area. This is a full-time, permanent role with competitive salary, equity, and benefits.

In this role, the Civil Engineer will be on the construction projects team, and will be responsible for designing, building, and activating critical production facility infrastructure for a massive, 1M+ square foot campus. This role is very hands-on and requires candidates to both plan AND execute new facility construction/renovation projects, primarily focused on heavy civil and utility components.

This Civil Engineer will be in a highly collaborative environment and work cross functionally with construction PMs, facilities engineers, designers, vendors/suppliers, and internal customers. This role will own projects from start to finish, so it is imperative to have strong prior experience in a high-ownership role with little oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and issue drawings, designs, documentation, and reports for land development projects

  • Calculations for drainage and grading, stormwater control facilities, water quality, domestic water distribution, and other underground utilities

  • Do what it takes to obtain local, state, and federal permits related specifically to land development and utility construction projects

  • Manage all civil tasks associated with field construction projects, including quality control, conflict resolution, and team coordination

  • Coordinate and direct a multi-discipline contractor team

  • Manage communication with contractors, fabricators, owners, and internal stakeholders to develop project requirements, schedules, and cost estimated prior to project implementation

  • Resolve design and construction conflicts real-time

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or similar engineering discipline

Required skills and experience

  • Prior work experience owning projects from start to finish in the industrial, manufacturing, and commercial land development projects

  • 4+ years of work experience in full lifecycle civil engineering: design, analysis, and drafting

  • EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) license

  • Strong previous experience with civil design software, specifically StormCAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMC, PCSWMM, and WaterCAD

  • 3+ years of experience with AutoCAD Civil3D (grading to create a Civil3D surface file, earthwork volume takeoffs, plan and profile creation, base model set-up, etc.)

  • Prior applied knowledge of location-relevant governing permitting and environmental agencies

  • Strong experience reading, reviewing, and approving shop and fabrication drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals

  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends based on site operational needs

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or similar engineering discipline

  • Ability to work at elevated heights and both indoor and outdoor environments

  • Ability to lift 25lb and be on foot at the construction site

  • Ability to work in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise

  • Ability to provide on-call support in emergencies

  • Willingness to travel occasionally

  • Ability to work onsite in Bastrop, TX (no remote considered)
