Job summary

Buckley Group, LLC in Athens, Ohio, is seeking a motivated Civil Engineer to join our consulting team. You will manage land development projects from concept through construction, collaborating with clients, developers, architects, and public agencies across southeastern Ohio.

PE licensure is preferred; EITs pursuing licensure are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities include designing stormwater, sanitary sewer, and roadway plans; coordinating with stakeholders; preparing permit applications;

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering design principles.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare engineering designs, calculations, reports, and construction documents for land development projects.
  • Design and prepare plans for stormwater management, sanitary sewer systems, and roadways and parking lots.
  • Coordinate with architects, surveyors, utility providers, and government agencies.
  • Prepare permit applications and supporting documentation.
  • Attend client meetings and represent the firm throughout project development.
  • Review plans for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assist with construction administration and respond to contractor questions during construction.
  • Manage multiple projects while maintaining schedules and budgets.

Job Type: Full-Time

About the Position

We are seeking a motivated Civil Engineer to join our growing consulting engineering team in Athens, Ohio. This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of residential, commercial, municipal, and institutional development projects throughout southeastern Ohio and surrounding regions.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem solver who enjoys managing projects from concept through construction while working directly with clients, developers, architects, and public agencies.

Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is preferred, but experienced Engineer Interns (EITs) who are actively pursuing licensure are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare engineering designs, calculations, reports, and construction documents for land development projects.

  • 3–10 years of experience in consulting civil engineering.
  • Experience with:
  • Site grading
  • Utility design
  • Stormwater calculations
  • Roadway geometry
  • Construction administration
  • Familiarity with Ohio EPA, Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), and local agency requirements.
