Thomas & Hutton in Myrtle Beach, SC is seeking a Civil Designer III to apply independent judgment on land development projects, perform design calculations, and prepare drawings using Civil 3D and AutoCAD. You will engage with clients at the staff level and work toward PE licensure.

You’ll contribute to drainage, water and wastewater designs, prepare cost estimates, and assist project engineers with schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• 3+ years of land development design experience.
• FE/EIT certification; eligible to sit for the PE exam where state rules allow.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple complex tasks with reduced day-to-day oversight.
• Client-service mindset and collaborative approach to project teams.

Responsibilities

• Use independent judgment to prepare design calculations and analyses for land development projects.
• Independently prepare portions of construction plans, specifications, and reports.
• Prepare drawings and details using CADD tools and company graphics standards.
• Assist Project Engineer/Manager with cost proposals, schedules, and cost estimates.
• Maintain moderate client contact and attend meetings as needed.
• Coordinate with project team to determine schedule and budget requirements.
