Job Title: Civil Designer

Location: 720 E Butterfield Rd STE 200, Lombard, IL 60148

Primary Function

The Civil Designer will perform routine design assignments requiring knowledge of basic design techniques and procedures, under close supervision. Drafting will constitute a significant part of the job, requiring thorough knowledge of CAD.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Produce new drawings from previous project examples or standards with some supervision.
• Research information in catalogs, specifications, standards, or other references.
• Calculate structure heights, weights, concrete volumes, equipment fit-up, etc.
• Learn and use the document management system properly.
• Apply corporate standard engineering practices.
• Ensure the quality and accuracy of work.
• Identify project-related problems and suggest solutions.
• Travel as required for projects and assignments.
• Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

Associates degree in drafting & design required. Extensive drafting experience, especially in civil/structural or transmission design, preferred. Experience with AutoCAD 2010+ required; Microstation or PLS-CADD experience a plus.

Skills

• Civil drafting experience for substations and transmission lines preferred.
• Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and email.
• Mathematics skills including algebra and basic trigonometry.
• Knowledge of various CADD programs.
• Basic understanding of substation components.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
