Description

We are seeking an Experienced Civil - Site Drafter / Designer to work out of our Framingham, Chicago, or Orlando office.

** This role has the potential to be remote depending on the candidate **

As an experienced designer in site civil work, you will coordinate directly with our civil engineers supporting our substation/transmission site development group creating site plans, grading and drainage plans, and site development details. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to take direction from engineers to start projects using survey data, substation overlays, aerial photography, and general topography to create comprehensive drawing packages. A high level of attention to detail is required, and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (no exceptions) is essential. Effective communication, continuous improvement, and teamwork are key.

Primary tasks:

1. Prepare precise site design drawings, models of site plans, grading and drainage drawings, and site details.
2. Develop and manage AutoCAD Civil 3D templates and standards for client-specific projects.
3. Ensure engineering design details are accurately represented for the development of “greenfield” (new) substations and site expansion projects for existing substations.
4. Exercise good judgment in interpreting survey data.
5. While primarily focused on civil site plans and documents, this role could lead to supervisory responsibilities.

Basic Required Qualifications:

• Level 1 - Associate's degree in Engineering Tech, CAD-related scientific/technical discipline preferred; High School diploma required. A CAD certificate and relevant experience may substitute for education.
• Level 2 - Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline; additional experience may substitute for degree.
• 2+ years of relevant site development experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and MicroStation.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Bentley In-Roads
• Experience with AutoTURN
• Experience in the utility market
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Good communication skills
