Roadway Engineer (Civil Engineer / Highway Engineer)

Location: Remote - Must reside in the Southeast, US

Employment Type: Full-Time

Experience Level: Mid-Level (4+ years)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Roadway Engineer with a strong background in roadway design and experience working on projects for state departments of transportation such as SCDOT, GDOT, and NCDOT. The role involves contributing to significant transportation projects that have a lasting impact.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and design roadway plans from preliminary concepts to final construction documents.
2. Utilize MicroStation and GEOPAK/OpenRoads for plan production and design tasks.
3. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project objectives.
4. Conduct technical analyses and prepare engineering reports.
5. Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
6. Participate in client meetings and coordinate with stakeholders.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
2. Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain licensure within 12 months.
3. Minimum of 5 years of experience in roadway design, especially with SCDOT, GDOT, and NCDOT projects.
4. Proficiency in MicroStation and GEOPAK/OpenRoads software.
5. Strong understanding of AASHTO and state-specific design standards.
6. Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.
7. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking skills.
