Job summary

Thomas & Hutton is seeking a Civil Engineer Designer EIT IV in Orlando to exercise independent engineering judgment and lead design teams on land development projects. You will manage plans, calculations, and specifications from concept through final permit submissions, while maintaining direct client contact and contributing to business development.

The role requires PE licensure within one year or current EIT/FE with near-licensure, strong Civil 3D knowledge, and proven ability to work

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 4+ years of land development design experience with Civil 3D.
• EIT/FE certification and PE licensure, or ability to obtain PE within one year.
• Strong knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Ability to exercise independent engineering judgment without close oversight.
• Experience with financial reporting tools to evaluate project performance.
• Strong written and verbal communication; leadership and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ready for business development and client-relations responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Resolve moderate-to-complex design problems with minimal supervision using field investigations and calculations.
• Interpret code, permits, and design methodologies to determine technical approaches.
• Own construction plans, specs, reports, and estimates from concept through completion.
• Direct and review work of technicians; resolve conflicts within the team.
• Maintain client contact and present at meetings with clients, contractors, or resource agencies.
• Contribute to marketing and business development activities; represent the company at conferences.
• Collaborate with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects; coordinate across teams.
