Job summary

Turner & Townsend in Richmond, VA is seeking an experienced Civil Design Lead (SME) to lead civil engineering for data center campuses. You will direct design activities from early due diligence through construction, ensuring regulatory compliance, constructability, and timely delivery while coordinating with internal teams and external consultants.

This role requires strong leadership, the ability to review drawings and calculations, and a proven track record with multi‑phase campuses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in civil engineering, site development, or infrastructure delivery.
• Experience managing external engineering consultants and coordinating with construction teams.
• Ability to interpret civil engineering drawings, calculations, reports, and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee civil design across all development phases from due diligence to closeout.
• Act as client’s civil SME and provide design management oversight.
• Ensure civil plans are stamped by EoR/AoR before construction activities.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to verify compliance with codes, safety requirements and regulations.
• Support risk management and client requirements through the design process.
