Job summary

City of New York’s Department of Design & Construction seeks an Assistant Civil Engineer to join the Design Unit’s Consultant Design team at 30-30 Thomson Avenue, LIC, NY 11101. The role involves preparing contract documents, specifications, and final estimates, as well as conducting field surveys and designing projects with minimal supervision.

Candidates should hold a US-accredited civil engineering degree, with options including a master’s or a civil engineering technology degree plus

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering technology and three years of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

Prepare contract documents, specifications, and final estimates.
Conduct field surveys to assess current conditions and compile reports.
Develop contract plans and working drawings with minimal oversight.
Participate in engineering reviews and studies; assist with design of infrastructure projects.
