ASSISTANT CIVIL ENGINEER – 20210

The Department of Design & Construction, Division of Infrastructure, is currently seeking a Design Engineer to join Design Unit’s Section 3 – Consultant Design team.

The successful candidate will report to an Engineer-In-Charge and will be responsible for preparing contract documents, specifications, and final estimates; conducting engineering investigations; and developing contract plans and working drawings.

Additionally, the candidate will conduct field surveys to assess current conditions, compile reports, participate in engineering reviews and studies, and design projects with minimal oversight.

Educational credentials must be from a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accredited institution. Credentials from foreign institutions require independent equivalency verification from an approved evaluation service. Minimum Qualifications

1. 1. A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university and one year of fulltime satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or
2. 2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering technology and three years of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or
3. 3. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and a master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Skills

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
• Construction knowledge relevant to infrastructure projects (sewers, water mains, roadways)
• Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards
• Comprehensive understanding of the NYC infrastructure system and current engineering practices
• Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling and Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential (preferred)
• Valid driver's license (required)
• Personal vehicle (optional)
