The M. A. Mortenson Company in Wellsburg, IA is seeking a Laborer Journeyman to support material prep, handling, and delivery for other trades on construction projects.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading, erecting scaffolding, grading ground, tending mortar and grout, moving materials between wheelbarrows and buckets, and ensuring clean work sites. Strong teamwork and safety awareness are essential.

Qualifications

• Two-year apprenticeship completed.
• Construction experience preferred.
• Ability to operate power and non-powered tools such as vibrators, pumps, drills, and jackhammers.
• Teamwork, communication, and customer service skills with openness to feedback.
• Lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs; safety around heavy equipment.

Laborer Journeyman

SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking a Laborer Journeyman that will be responsible for the preparation, handling, and supplying of materials to be used by other crafts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Load and unload equipment
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding (5X7X16) and staging
• Level ground for scaffolding
• Tend mortar and grout
• Lift, unload, move, set, and shovel mortar and grout between wheelbarrows and buckets
• General cleanup and clearing of debris, including sweeping, cleaning, washing, and unloading or burning debris
• Place, push, pull, and shovel concrete
• Vibrate concrete
• Provide work direction and guidance to Laborer I, II, Helpers, and Apprentice
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Completion of two-year apprenticeship program
• Experience in construction preferred
• Ability to work with tools and equipment such as power and non-powered hand tools, vibrators, pumps, drills, and jackhammers; forklifts, skid loaders, and power buggies
• Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail orientation; active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback
• Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.
